Woolacombe lies within the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is well known for its picture perfect views and dramatic coastal cliffs and landscapes. The swell, due to the Atlantic, is large and very clean making it a great benefit for surfing.
Putsborough Beach is at the far end of Woolacombe and they can seem like one long beach at around 3 miles in length.
Right across from the beach, there are panoramic views of Lundy Island
Croyde’s weather is somewhat strange, but in a good way. Sometimes if it is rainy in Barnstaple it can be sunny in Croyde. Since 1999 Croyde has hosted an annual surfing and music festival (GoldCoast Oceanfest) on the weekend closest to the summer solstice.
All three of these wonderful beaches boast some of the best surf in the country, with miles of golden sand and only a 15 minute drive from Lantern House.
Surf equipment can be hired from the beach and lessons can be booked too.
